Hello,

Does anyone know of a way to disable the close 'X' button of the browser when accessing Citrix via Nfuse. I have tried the AppScape Utility which works fine when installed on the client PC. The issue for us is that Remote Users are causing a lot of disconnected sessions simply by closing the browser window instead of closing the application. We have told them time and time again, but they don't pay any attention, therefore we are looking to force them to exit the application cleanly - we don't have the option of installing AppScape on the remote client PCs... We cannot set the timeout value of a disconnected session low incase there is a genuine disconnected session with database transactions open which could muck up the databases...

Any suggestions/info would be appreciated..

Cheers,
Kenny

Hi,

Can you explain your server and client configuration? Versions etc!

I've got:-

W2K Server
W2K Pro client
Citrix 6.30.1050 client

I start IE6 login to my NFuse
Click on Full Screen Desktop - login successfully
Alt+Tab to IE6 NFuse
Close IE6
Continue with Citrix session untill logging out!

I can't seem to replicate your issue, can you describe it more precise?

Cheers,
Carl.

We are using -
Win2K server
XP client
Web 6.30.. client
IE6

Log into Nfuse, start up published app (MS Word) - new browser windows opens (90% of screen) running Word. Open Remote Desktop app (90% of screen) and view Citrix server sessions.

Two running, one for Word and one for Remote Desktop.

Select browser with Word open and close browser window using X at the top right hand corner (not on app, but browser)

View Citrix server sessions on Remote Desktop and session for Word is disconnected....

Cheers,

Kenny

Hi,

I'm no wiser! I've got a published application that normally runs in a maximised state, minimise it, close Nfuse, go back to Nfuse, close it, go to published app and it's fine, can work in it, log out, no errors!

Sorry, I can't replicate it in my setup!

Cheers,
Carl.

Carl,

Thanks for your input - the problem is not logging out of Nfuse itself, but closing the published app by using the X of the browser window disconnects the session. It is this we are trying to stop - users closing the app browser instead of exiting from the app correctly..

Many thanks for your help,

Kenny

Hi,

Aha!

Is it running in a Window instead of seamlessly? If so, what have you configured in your CMC for the application? Also, what is configured in the users NFuse settings? Check both of these as I have configured my published apps as 800x600 maximise at startup, and in NFuse, run Seamless Windows.

Cheers,
Carl.

Carl,

I take your point about running in seamless, we have advised our remote users to set the screen size to 90% of screen which will run in a new window. We have taken this route as we did not want to overly confuse our users and to make sure they knew they were running the apps remotely (instead of thinking they were running them locally) - we do not allow mapping of local client drives, and they don't have access to the local drives of the Citrix server - only access to their mapped drives via the app window...

If we ran in seamless mode, then there wouldn't be a browser app window for them to close and they would be forced to close the app instead of the window - however we want to keep the app window, just disable the ability for them to close the broswer - just as AppScape does when installed locally - except we can't install AppScape on the remote PCs....

I'm new to citrix and I have to setup a metaframe xpe farm. Am I right in thinking the datastore will be created on the first server when setting up the farm ? If not, when and where would you set it up ?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Hi,

I'd suggest going to the citrix web site and downloading the Citrix Admin Guide. That will explain the Data Store in detail.

As a recommendation, I'd suggest creating a new post when asking questions like yours. You may get more responses ;-)

Cheers,
Carl.
