Hi,

Is there any way to prevent users from forwarding a voicemail message to a specific extn?

The problem is that some users don't use (and don't want) voicemail. Voicemail is disabled on their phone, but other users can still forward a message to thier mailbox.

Thanks

If you use VMPro, you can set up a call flow within the default voicemail leave action to divert all callers to a generic message like, "User not here, blah blah" or a transfer action to reception. I have had to do this a few times.

IPO will create vm boxes for all users

They are using VMPro. I tried creating a specific leave start point for that user, but when a voicemail message is forwarded from another user, it doesnt use this. The message just goes directly into their box.

The problem I am talking about only happens when another user, listening to their voicemail, tries to forward a message to a user with voicemail disabled. The message gets forwarded regardless of wether the recipient has voicemail enabled or not.

We want to not allow users to forward voicemails to extns with voicemail disabled.

I'm pretty sure there is no feature or option for this, but does anyone have any other ideas???

Thanks

That is a good question.
I think It is a case of users having to know which other users do not have voicemails.

If your running the VMPro in intuity emulation mode, it is possible to set a mailbox as no in use. Log in and follow the prompts for personal options.

sizbut,

The option you are talking about is "Call answer messages will not be accepted"?

This still allowed me to FORWARD a message to this user, even though you can't leave a message in that box, it still allows me to forward a message to them from another user.

Have you tried to forward a message?

Again, what I am looking for is a way to prevent users from forwarding messages to extensions that have vmail turned off. These are messages that have already been recorded, and the user forwards this message (by pressing 6 while listening to the message in ipoffice mode or by pressing 1 at the end of msg in intuity) to another extension. I want to prevent them from forwaring their message to someone who has voicemail turned off.

I know that we can prevent users from leaving new messages to this box, but there doesn't seem to be any option to stop them from forwarding messages to this box.

Thanks for replying, testbench and sizbut, if your way stops users from forwarding messages to extns with vmail disabled, let me know because it doesnt seem to work for forwarding.

I dont think there is an option for this...I am going to submit a feature request with our avaya accounts manager. Btw if anyone has a better way to submit feature requests, please let me know.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like your up sh!t creek without a paddle.

To be honest i don't see this as a real problem. Tell them not to forward calls to these mailboxes! You can only take so much responsibility.

Sorry not to help but you should sometimes take a step back and look at the big picture
