Our corp. is setting up authorization codes with AT&T, which will require us to disable use of codes in our G3r version 9.

I was not involved in set-up of the switch, and am trying to understand what they did. Faxes and modems have COR 7 that allows long distance calling without codes. Phone stations are set with COR 1 and they are required to enter the code.

Is the ability to call long distance without codes determined by the COR??

I also see two forms with fields relating to authoriz codes. Do I assume these both need to be changed:
sys-parameters feature; field = "auth codes enabled"
sys-parameters customer options; field = "auth codes"

Is there anything else am I missing in order to disable the codes?

Also, am I correct in assuming this is a feature that can be turned back on if needed?

Thanks for the help.

YES and NO Within the COR is a little thing called FRL this is a number from 1 to 7. If you look at your trunk groups you will see this again. Inorder for a call to be placed the FRL in the COR must be the same or higher then the FRL in the trunk group. With your Auth codes turned off this would be the way to control who gets what phone service. Since your phone company will be doing this, user still need to be able to get out to them. So you still need to check your FRLs. Wisdom is Knowledge

Thanks Phoneman2,

I see the FRL's on the forms.
Both trunk groups have COR with FRL 0.
Stations have COR with FRL 3
Faxes have COR with FRL 5

My auth codes COR for domestic long distance has FRL 4, and for international FRL 5. So, since the faxes FRL is same or higher than authcodes FRL, they dial out without having to use auth code... and stations FRL is lower than authcodes COR, forcing calls from stations to use authoriz. code. Am I getting this?

Very Good Thats how it works Wisdom is Knowledge

You should only need to disable the field in the form that lists the number of digits along with the option. I can't remember if it is the "options" or the "features" form. The other form will probably not allow you access into it unless you have the init password anyway. Keep in mind if you deactivate the codes they WILL BE GONE. You will need to re-enter them if you want to use that feature again. Listen to Phoneman2 @ the COR/FRL thing. He knows what he's talking about. You will need to do some tweaking to open the machine up.
Thanks

Sounds more like you are using account codes rather than authorisation code. The cor 7 will have "forced account code" set to no and cor 1 will be set to yes (if this is the case) "disp cor 7" to check.

Please help!

I am trying to understand the difference between the FRL and its owner the COR. My company uses the first 5 COR's as follows:

0 Internal
1 212
2 Metro-Tristate
3 U.S
4 Canada/Caribbean
5 Intenational

Question:
My COR is 10.
If I set my calling permissions page for COR 3 within COR 10 to NO. Can I call the U.S with an FRL of 7.
I was under the assumption that COR not FRL established where you can call. We are revamping the COR's and my phone tech told me we can get rid of the first 5 COR's and use the FRL's to select where the phones have permissions to dial.

Thanks,
TelecomGuy
