Hi everyone

When my company hire someone I change the name of the old employe mailbox and the X.400 to the name of that person !

But I can't change the Directory name in the advanced field of the mailbox ! Is their a way to change it except to create a new mailbox ?

Thanks

The directory name is the identifier Exchange uses - much like a SID in Windows is the identifier for a username. The directory name should be invisible to everyone except those administering Exchange.

Griffyn's right, the directory name is fixed for the lifetime of the mailbox.

Ok I guess I'll leave it that way then !
Thanks for your answers !

The problem is: when I type the name of someone in outlook let's say Toto No.... I see a suggestion box with

Toto Noname <NameOfSomeoneElse>

When staff leave and are replaced, I give the new starter a new mailbox, and permission to the old one (if necessary). If you've got admin rights, you could transfer all the mail across to the new mailbox and delete the old one. Both of those would fix your problem.

Check the Alias field as well - thta's used to resolve names by default. You would need to change that if you're changing the identity of a mailbox.
