Hello,

What is a DID line, and how is it used?

I was under the impression that it was a number
tied to a line at the CO.

Can DID's be used with supervised POTS lines
going into a MICS v6.1?

DID service is available either via DID card, which needs to be off the switch in a Trunk Module, or via PRI.

Its a block of numbers pointed at a trunk or trunks that good to a target that is pointed to a ext...which doesnt tie up your other trunks...

DID's come in two flavors, analog and digital. Analog DID comes from your phone company and come in on their RJ21 blocks. For these to work with the Norstar you need a DID card. These cards install in any trunk module.

Digital DID's come in over a PRI circuit. The Norstar needs a T1 card to make use of these kinds of DID's

All DID's only allow inbound access (hence the name...Direct Inward Dial). To use these in the Norstar you need to program target lines...Hope this helps.
