DIR-655 VPN connection drops after 3min every time

Firmware Version : 1.02, 2006/10/13

My new DIR-655 router keeps dropping my VPN connection to work after 3mins.

I have verified when my PC is directly connected to the Cable modem I have no VPN problems. I can work for hours without a disconnect.

When connected thru the router I keep getting disconnected.
I have tried changing the MTU.
MTU Options tried and failed include: 1000, 1300, 1400, 1500.

I also tried with IPsec ON and Off - Failed
I also tried with DMZ On - Failed

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing my problems?

At least I can get connected better than what the Linksys WRT54G could do for me

I'm having the same problem and I'm coming to the same conclusion. It is the rouer, but I have yet to find a solution.

I have the same router.

Ok, the solution is to uncheck the PPTP under the firewall settings. The firewall settings fall under the advance selection.

Well I ended up leaving my PPTP on and I am using a different VPN from one of my companies other site locations. It is not connecting with the one that is local but I can still get on my companies intranet which is more important.

I may try this later but for now it is working for me. I have no idea why one VPN access will work for me and the other (local) one will not.

I am interested in if you get your problem corrected.
I know my companies IT department worked on it for half a day...but then I am not sure they were real knowledgable about the problem either.
