I have a friend that wants to know if there are digital modems or at least analog modems that are digital capable? He is wanting to basically use outlook and have the modem dial the numbers out of his contacts.

And will someone please give me some feedback on my Nero 5 issue? Nero was absolutely no help and I'm getting very aggrivated at this junk!

Thanks in advance!
Don

Love this site!!!!

I don't understand the question. A modem (modulator/demodulator) is designed to convert a digital signal (from your pc) and convert it into an analog signal (one that your phone line can transmit) and vise versa. In this respect EVERY modem is "digital-capable".
Your example is puzzling too; He wants to have his PC dial Outlook contacts? There are better applications available if he just wants the PC to call a list of numbers, if that's what you mean.
Need more clarifacation if you want any help...

I think this is what he needs to know of. At his office, all of the phone lines are digital. He wants his PC to dial numbers from his "list" so he feels that he needs a conversion of sorts from Analog (PC Modem) to Digital (the phone line). He was curious as to if there were digital modems that he could just run straight into a digital phone line. Does this make any more sense?

thanks for the reply!

Digital PBX systems use propiatary interfaces. If there is a way to tap into them, it will have to come from the vendor. That may be available at the PBX. Talk to your telecom people. Digital phone lines often use RJ45 cables but they are electrically different from a 10/100 LAN connection.
