hi,
i need to install a fresh copy of exch 2000, i have destroyed my exch 5.5.

i don't know if i have to install the smtp connector (seems to be the same of the ims in exch 5.5 ) or if it will be enough the smart host in the smtp virtual server.

anybody could help me to understand the differences between the two.
Thanks
Max

if you use Smarthost (your ISP for instance), then that smarthost will distribute the emails, so that one will do the DNS resolving.
In that case you will also just have 1 outgoing SMTP queue.

If you do it yourself, you will have a queue per domain you send to.

Each has a pro and a con, if you don't want the DNS hassle, use the smarthost.
