I have a user who appears to be familar with a feature which will allow for "different ring tones" to be used when he receives a call if the call originates from within the building (PBX), or from outside the building.

Is anyone familar with how to enable this feature on an Option 11c system?

In the RDB set DRNG YES (distintive ring)

One thing to remember, equipment that answers on ring may not answer the new ring pattern you select, so depending on what you choose you may get complains about modems and other devices not answering.

drg 2 works, but change the ring seq, to one long and then one short, the default is one short, one long. works great except for fax machines.. it is controlled on a route by route level, you can set up a unique cadence for local and long distant..

If changing the DRNG to YES, will that be a global change for all phones on our switch?

And under which load is RDB defined??

yes all calls from that route will rec dist ring.. you print routes in 21, chg them in 16..

DRG2 would be defined in as a CLS in LD20 (or LD11 as the case may be right)? And if that is the case, that is on a "phone-by-phone" basis correct?

I was just under the impression that changing the DRG setting (as I have done on my personal phone here at the office), changed the ring-tone for all calls received, but it does not appear to have distinctive ring patterns based upon the originating source of the call (external vs. internal). Or am I missing something?

grg 2, on the set is a totally different package, that give a station a unique ring per set and has nothing to do with ringing from the trunks having drng
