The layout:
Client has an S8500 at primary site with MOH. Remote sites are G700/S8300 LSP's. When someone calls into remote site 1, and is put on hold, the music is being transmitted from the primary site via IP, thus consuming bandwidth.

I'm aware of tenant partitioning to use for multiple MOH, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of another way to have a "local" music source.

on CM3 there is a new feature "locally sourced announcements and music"

Locally sourced announcements and music
Use the Locally Sourced Announcements and Music feature to access announcement and music audio sources on a local port network or media gateway.

Locally sourced audio can:
? improve the quality of audio
? reduce resource usage, such as VoIP resources
? provide a backup mechanism for announcement and music sources

The Locally Sourced Announcement and Music feature is based on the concept of audio source groups. This feature allows announcement and music sources to be located on any or all of the Voice Announcement with LAN (VAL) TN2501AP boards or on virtual VALs (vVAL) in a media gateway. The VAL or vVAL boards are assigned to an audio group. The audio group is then assigned to an announcement or audio extension as a group sourced location. When an incoming call requires an announcement or music-on-hold, the audio source that is closest to the incoming call trunk plays.

Ooh! The client is running, I do believe CM2, but this will be very useful going forward with new installations. Thank you very much for the information!
