i'm sorry if i sound really thick, but i'd like some advice please?! we have an access 2.0 database in work and have the opportunity to upgrade the same datebase to access 2000 (visual basic 6). we run a client/server network workstation o/s's mainly win2k, winnt, win98, server is win2k server.
we experience regular access 2.0 crashes...

i suppose basically what i'd like to know is:

would upgrading to access 2000 benefit us and if so how? what differences would we notice???

Thanx

You would certainly stop your database from crashing by converting it to access 2000. however i would recommend access 97 as access 2000 is relativley new and there are many annoying bugs not yet rectified yet. Go for 97 for a safe bet not only to make your database more stable but to make it run faster. This can be done by compressing and replicating your database in 97.
Hope this advice explains things a bit more.

thanx 4 that..but the database in question doesn't belong to us, the firm that have supplied the original database are upgrading to access 2000 - they have the developers rights, not us.
i need to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of upgrading.
At present we have problems with inconsistencies in data between the tables, run-time errors, reports not working, duplicate values in indexes, primary keys etc,
...
would these automatically be rectified in access 2000?

are you able to tell me more about these annoying bugs in access 2000?
thanx again for your help :)
