what's the difference between FDN and HUNT.

got a person wanting to see if another person is on the phone and to be able to answer that person's phone when she is either on the phone or away from her phone.

thanks

Hi,
"hunt" is where the call will be forward from an
interne call
"fdn" is where the call will be forward from an
externe call, like someone of an another compagny.

Exemple:
REQ:new
TYPE:2616
...
HUNT 1234
...
FDN 5678
...
CLS FBA (forward busy allowed) FNA (forward non-answer allowed) HTA (hunting allowed)
...
KEY 0 scr 9999
...

If your collegue call you and either your busy or not there
its call will be forward to 1234
If your wife call your from your house, she will be send to 5678.
FBA, if your on your phone line the originate call will be send to hunt or fdn.
FNA, if your not in your office...

Xcuse me for my poor english !!!

FDN is for forward no answer...
HUNT is for busy condition...

If the phone is in hearing distance, you could add call pickup instead. When the person hears the other phone ringing, they press the call pickup key and retrieve the call.

you could add the other 1st person DN on the 2nd person set or program a BFS key on the 2nd person phone.

key x BFS TN of 1st person

Just to clarify:

As yyrkroon stated, the origination of the call is NOT seperated by FDN and HUNT. There is an additional option, which is in the CLS; CFTA. This would provide additional prompts to do what DavidGaud was referring to. So...

Exemple:
REQ:new
TYPE:2616
...
HUNT 1234
EHT 2222
...
CLS==> FNA HTA CFTA
...
FDN 5678
EFD 4444

Key 0 SCR 9999

This would create the following call handling pattern:

Internal call while 9999 is busy, call goes to 1234.
Internal call 9999 does not answer, call goes to 5678.
External call while 9999 is busy, call goes to 2222.
External call 9999 does not answer, call goes to 4444.

I hope this helps.

if you add a bfs key to the users phone that needs to know if the phone is in use..
key 6 bfs 20 0 0 0

gives that user a lamp if the user is on any line including icm.. the only problem i've had with that key is press it once, it blinks and forwards the monitored set.. i have one on my set, when another switchman leaves and doesn't forward to mail, i can press my bfs and forward his phone, he can take it off when he gets back
