I have a customer with at least one extension that can be called directly from the outside without a line assigned to the set. I have looked everywhere. Nothing special about the set. You can call the person from outside and inside, and the set has no lines assigned. What am I missing?

tks

Does it ring on the intercom or a line button???

When called, the display should indicate the line that is ringing on it. You can go from there....

How does the extension number compare to the dialed number? Do the last 2,3,or 4 digits match? Do you have a PRI or a DID trunk card? I If you have either and the DNIS is say 1234 and you have an extension 1234 or 234 or 34 it will ring to that extension. Numbering plans have to take into consideration the DID range.

Someone could have made that the Prime Set for a Target line.

It's very simple bro. When you call the number, check out the LCD screen on the ext. it rings on. It will display the incoming call on the line it is ringing on. Target lines begin at 157.

You can scroll through your target lines and see if any are assigned or not.
You can then check as Hawks says to see if that ext. is the prime set for that line.

PRI DID is the same as extension number. Prime set on Target line could have been set to that Target Line, but has been changed already and cannot research. I do not recall it being set to extension, I did not install the system. Only set in entire company that did not have a Target line assigned. Just a real curiosity. May never know.

so your saying the did number appears in display as CID. Well you could always scroll through each target line and look for where those digits are assigned. all the best
