Working on some changes to a Merlin Legend R7 and the customer would like to have a DID added to their system that when called, it shows up on the Operator's console w/ a specific name (let's say "Avaya", for example) so they know which greeting to speak when answering the call.

This is coming in on a PRI T1. I've created DID's as physical phone exts., but not anything like this before. Is this a possibility, or is the customer just out of luck?

I think your best option is to route certain D-I-D's to different calling groups.

That way you can LABEL the calling groups for what you want to see on the display.

Of course, the folks receiving the calls would have to be members of the groups involved. With a late enough Magix, that is quite do-able.

So if the DID they want is xxx-4160, then just renumber a calling group to 160 (they have 3 digit exts.) and label it whatever, and then add exts. to that calling group that it should ring on? Being a Legend R7 it should still work. Sounds like a plan to me.

Thanks MM!

The main problem with using an R7 Legend is that you can not be a member of more than one group.

Now, one group can "SUPPORT" other groups.

Also, if you only need to do this for 1 number then it's not a big deal.

Ok, I seem to be missing something on this setup. What I have done is created calling group 160 and assigned 3 members to this calling group. I have put calling group 160 buttons on each of the 3 phones.

When I call the DID, I get a busy signal, so it's not going where I thought it would. There are no lines assigned to group 160 since it is a PRI.

Not sure what you mean by a calling group 160 button. What kind of group type and hunt type did you setup for Calling Group 160. The default is Circular hunt and autologout type - meaning - unless you have login buttons on the three member phones - and they actually login - the phones will not ring - because everyone is logged out.

The group is set to default, so I see that as one issue. I need to set them for AutoLogin.

As far as the CG160 button, they will be removed since there is no need for them as the calls will just come in on an SA-Ring button.

Then it should work - as soon as you change the 160 Group type to "Autologin".

It rings now. Thanks. Now I just have to figure out how to get it to cover to VM as there is a mailbox already built and recorded for it.

Since I have 3 members in CG160, and I also have CG 870 as a support group (trying to work around not being able to have an ext. in more than group), it won't cover to VM. I did notice that CG870 doesn't overflow to 770 (VM group), so this may be an issue.

Well you could overflow 160 to voicemail(770) - and set the time for more than the cover rings to the support group or eliminate the support group and just overflow to voicemail - and setup a 160 mailbox

I'll have to set the time for the overflow since the 3 exts. that are in the support group are ones that they wanted to include. I may just talk them into upgrading to a Magix so I can have these exts. in more than one group, lol... Much easier.

Thanks Tom.
