DID going to switchboard

We have a user who has a DID but when you call the DID from outside it goes to switchboard.

What should I do to fix this problem.

Please be gentle as I am a newbie... any lds and or syntaxes would be appreciated.

Can you confirm that the number is actually programmed as an extension? Make sure that it is not diverted to switchboard? If programmed as an extension then you should check if IDC tables are active. Hope this helps?
