Dialing out gives busy signal before it connects

Hi,

I have a 406v2 running 3.2. When we dial internal extensions, no problems - everything is good. When I dial out though, during the delay between dialing the numbers and it actually dialing (so on the phone itself, you can see the numbers I've dialed on the phone but the number hasn't "switched down" to the second line). When it "switches down", it dials as normal. What should I be looking for on that local busy signal? Thanks!

Stu

Did you change the "Dial Delay Time"?

Goto: System > Telephony tab > Dial Delay Time (secs): and put it on 3 or 4 sec.

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

My dial delay time is listed in (ms) and it's currently set to 3000. It was at 4000 and I knocked it down to 3000 with the same result. A strange thing is that I reloaded an old config (where this didn't happen) and it has the same behavior.

We have a PRI and some regular trunks. It happens when I dial out to either of those. Strange thing is if I hit Redial, it doesn't happen. Any other ideas would be great and thanks for your help.

Need to see the short code and the ARS entries to determine your problem.

ARS won't be the problem :)
3.2 is the version

ACA - Voice Services Management

There are two shortcode formats and as far as I know, these haven't changed:

[8]xxxxxxx goes to N which points to a group of trunks
[9]xxxxxxx goes to Ns208622E which points to our PRI

I also have a longer version (more x's) of both which are for long distance and international calling. Both of them have this same behavior. Thanks guys for the help!

Check the channel settings on your PRI LINE, and make sure you dont have any turned on which are not configured for voice. I am guessing you have a partial PRI? Redial may grab a different channel, and it seems we are looking for something in that venue. Other than that, look at the line settiungs to see what the prefix, etc. are set at.

8 + 7 x's means the system will have an exact match when 8 diigts are dialled, likewise for 9 + 7x's.

the only reason for it to wait the 3000 ms is if there are further possible matches with more entries.

Check your short codes make sure there are no possibilities.

For my curiosity, change the x's in the shortcodes above to N;

Then dial numbers that would have matched the old codes and post what happens.

The posting states there are more matching short codes. The ones with more X's for LD, and international LD.

Has the obvious been checked that there are callers waiting too long between dialing digits, and it times out? Or that there is simply not an available line fto make the outbound call?
