Dialing from Phone Manager

This has been an age-old conundrum that I've ran into with certain customers that request this functionality.

I've seen this issue with different versions of IPO, but I'm running my tests on a 406 4.1.9 w/User 4.1.17.

What I see the issue to be is that Phone Manager logs are based of the CLID for inbound calls. When I double-click the entry in 'Inbound/Missed Calls' to dial back that number, Phone Manager doesn't input a '9' when dialing. Not only does this bypass the normal "9N" Short-Code that sends a caller to the ARS table, for area codes that begin with 9, an incomplete number gets sent there instead.

So my question is...

Is there a method to get this feature working WITHOUT programming a plethora of Short Codes that change depending on the location of the customer (ie, different area codes being long distance)?

I myself have a 5610 that I use and I've configured Short-Codes in order to allow me to dial from the phone log. But by bypassing the ARS table, I loose my secondary dial-tone...an acceptable sacrifice imo. But I was wondering what everyone else has been doing with these requests.

You have put a prefix in the prefix boxes in the Line tab haven't you?

What happens is the IP office ADDs that prefix to the ICLID an dthen displays it in the call log on phone manager. When you double click to dial - it dials the entire number

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I appreciate your response.

I've always kept away from that setting in order to preserve proper CID across the IPO though. I've ran into trouble when users think that 9 in their display is part of the number to dial (although technically it is cause they need to dial 9 to get out...but blah).

I've always just accepted that there was a sense of 'balance' with this feature, as in you can get it to work, but severely alter another behavior of the system.

Don't forget this sytem is designed to work without the need to dial 9 for an outside line, if you have changed it to work that way you can't expect the software to change with it.
