Hello everyone, I have an old Definity G3i and want to be able to dial 911 directly. We currently have 911 on speed dial as 611, but our safety supervisor wants to be able to just dial 911 and get through, because you must press 9 to dial outside numbers. Any ideas? Thank you.

Give this a try:

add this entry to "cha ars digit conversion "

string min max delete insert net conv
911 3 3 3 9911 ars n n

I think you can also do this by editing the route pattern.

RTMCKEE: Thanks for your help, that looked real promising, but I think theres still something I have to do. When I did that I had to chose a ars digit conversion number i.e. my command looked like this, "cha ars digit conversion 1". When I tried it out I forwarded it to my cell phone instead of 911, so the 911 operators wouldn't yell at me. Anyhow, I don't think it is actually converting the number. When I would dial 911 and wait a few seconds the operator would kick on, "The area code or number you dialed .... blah blah blah". How do I check which ars number is active? Do I have to change something in my CORs? Sorry, I'm somewhat of a newbie to this part of the system.

I also have:
Matching Pattern Min Max Del Replacement String Net Conv ANI Req

11 2 2 2 911 ars n n

but I thought it was the other one that does it.

Also I've tested this a few times at a few diffent companies, if you stay on the phone and explain what you are doing they dont usually get upset (at least in arizona) ;-)

You can always test it by using 411 instead of 911 in all screens...safe way to do it without setting off your crisis alert and such.

In the future everything will work...

hmmm, still doing the same thing. I tried using them both, here is what I have:

Matching Pattern Min Max Del Replacement String Net Conv
11 2 2 2 xxxxxxxxxx ars n
911 3 3 3 9xxxxxxxxxx ars n

I noticed you have another field that I do not have, the last one, ANI Req. Would that have anything to do with it? Thanks again for all your help!

Try 'ch ars dig 1'. Enter 11 in 'matching pattern', enter
'2' in 'min', 'max', and 'del'. Enter 911# in 'replacement string'. Enter 'ARS' in 'net'. Enter 'n' in 'Conv'. Leave the 'ANI Req' at default.

Then, do 'ch ars dig 9'. This time, enter 911, 3, 3, 3, and 911# as the replacement string, with ARS and n, then default the Ani Req.

This will allow those who are in a panic and dial only '911' to have their call process out normally. The system receives only '11' since the 9 is not part of the dial string, and replaces the 11 with 911#. The # key is the signal to the switch that digit outpulsing is complete- process the call.

Nope, that didn't work, I still get the operator. I noticed I don't have this 'ANI Req' field everyone else seems to have. Does that have something to do with it? Also, this is my only entry in my ARS Digit Conversion, is it possible that ARS is not turned on? If so, does anyone know how to turn it on?
Thank You For Your Help,

Can you please post a List Trace Station #### of the call?

I checked our call accounting system (Microcall v2.1) to see what was actually being dialed. It was 11# (btw, I have put in my cell phone as the replacement string instead of 911, just while i'm trying to get it figured out.)no matter what my ARS Digit Conversion was set up as, and even when i I cleared all of them. I tried calling some non-existant numbers (912 & 955) and it would say that I just dialed 12 or 55 (no # at the end). I am thoroughly confused as to where the # is coming from, as well as why it is making no attempt to convert my digits. How should my ARS analysis look?

try inserting a 9 on your router pattern. id you set up a special route pattern as adminman3 sugested?

List trace is a command to see how a call for a specific item is being placed. you can also use this on trunks vdns etc.

list trace station (your extension) will show you the call set up digits, and what errors are occuring.

I have tried putting # at the end of the replacement string, as well as without. I tried using list trace, but it appears it is not a command on my Definity (G3i V3 - 386 Software Ver. G3V3i.03.0.053.1). Thanks again everyone.

No where i was going with the route pattern was not adding a #, but adding a 9 in the route pattern. route pattern adds, insert the digit to the start of the string.

I have tried using routing patterns that insert a 9, and ones that don't. No luck . Here are the route patterns I tried (each line is a different one, 'B' = blank):

Grp. Frl NPA Pfx Hop Toll No Del Inserted
No. Mrk Lmt List Digits Digits
9 1 616 2 B 1 B B
9 0 616 0 B B B 9
9 0 616 2 B 1 B 9

Here are the entries in the ARS Analysis table that are relevant. I have been playing around with them a little too.

Dialed String Tot Rte Call Node
Min Max Pat Type Num
11 2 2 10 svc B
911 2 2 10 svc B

How does that look? I'm crossing my fingers hoping I did them wrong. :)

your 911 route pattern should be min 3, max 3?

here is what I have:
Dialed Total Route Call NodeANI
String Min Max Pattern Type Num eqd
911 3 3 5 alrt n

Route pattern 5 is:

Grp FRL NPA Pfx Hop Toll No
No Mrk Lmt List Del
1: 120 0 480 b b b b

Oops, sorry, fat fingers. I did have them set at min 3 max 3. tried setting up my route pattern like yours (with everything blank) and also with inserting a 9. No luck. I looked at my call accounting system, and its still only dialing 11#. Still have no idea where it is getting the # from either. I think im just going to tell our safety supervisor that we can't just dial 911. Thank you very much for your help!
