I need to connect to a win2000pro PC from a win95 PC.

Where do I start?

I dont have any networking professional experience.

Thanx in advance..

2 network cards , 1 in each machine. Both should find the cards when they reboot. This will add the adapter, the transport, and the client. In start , cp, network, check workgroup (identity tab) to be the same, on 2000 add file & print sharing, add a cable between them (cat5 crossover) and look in the 95 network neighborhood to see if you can see the 2000.
Few other little details that can bite you but help is here and in network troubleshooter. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

On the Win2k pro pc do this:
1. Go to start>Settings> Dial Up Networking
2. Double-click on Make New Network Connection
3. click NEXT > then select Accept Incoming Connections> NEXT
4. If your win2k computer is always on the internet and you know the static IP address, you can enable VPN, but if you don't know about that, forget it.
5. select the users you want to have access
6. select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties
7. if you need to access a netowork you're on select that box, but otherwise, unselect it. Set the IP address to specify it.
8. type either 10.10.1.1 to 10.10.1.5 or 192.168.1.5 to 192.168.1.10 then click OK
9. make sure file + printer sharing are checked
10. next > finish

On the windows 95 computer
1. go into dialup netowrking and have that computer connect to the win2k computer
