We have a mixed NT/Netware network. One PC running windows 98 needs to dial-up the bank occasionally. Each time the message "You are currently using netware servers that will be inaccessible if you establish this connection". The user has to reboot to restore the drive mappings. Can I stop this happening?
I changed the netware client from the Novell to the MS one and the only protocol bound to dial-up networking is TCP/IP.

Am I missing something obvious?
TIA

Yes, you practically said it in the message. "only protocol bound to dial-up networking is TCP/IP." Netware uses IPX, so add IPX to the dial-up connection. Even though it won't use it, this will fix your problem.

Thanks for the reply,
the IPS/SPX was bound originally, I unbound them in case that helped. Then I changed from the Novell client to the MS client for netware. This morning I added the IPX/SPX protocol back to the adapter but the message still occurs...<sigh>

Maybe it needs the ipx\spx protocol also? It's been awhile since I have had to use a modem, thank goodness.

By the way the Novell Client works better, I think.

Solved at last.
Had to go into the DialUp Connection properties
uncheck "log on to server" in Server Types diaolg
and uncheck IPX/SPX in the protocol list (same dialog).
Thanks for the help

Oh yes, forgot about that last little bit, quite a pain for such a little thing isn't it?
