Hello!

I would like to have one of my extension do the following;

As soon as i lift the handle on my Plantonics CS65 headset (without any dialpad), i want it to make a call steal from my main phone. So that when my phone rngs, i can just lift the "handle" on my headset, and it will automatically steal the call from my phone.

The feature is called HOTLINE on other pbx´es, but i cant get it to work on my IPO. any ideas?

You can get it to dial a number for you by going off hook using the ?D, dial shortcode, but the system does not like dialling a shortcode from a shortcode so I'm not sure the call steal would work. But you can try
SC ?D
Feature Dial
Tel number - call steal shortcode

So your headset is connected to the phone that actualy rings ?
IF you have a 5420 or 5621 and uses the eu24 port (connected to the headset) it picks up automaticly the way you discribe

Interesting one - Ive just had a play and cannot get the ?D facility to use the Call Steal function. Ive tried it with all different types of shortcodes and it makes no difference it just fails.

Is this from a different handset than the one ringing or just the handset the headset is connected too as tlpeter says?

Like I said, it is really to dial a number for you not a shortcode, it only works with dial features too.

Would using "Dial Ext" feature to call a virtual user that is forwarded unconditional to the call steal shortcode work? I doubt it...but you can try it.....I imagine the virtual user and the person dialling would need "can intrude" selected also :)

amriddle - dont try it, I just did and it rebooted my phone system.

And it corrupted half of my hot desk users login codes.

Oh and to make matters worse the MD was on the phone to the OPs Manager at the time.

Great, we now have a shortcode to remotely reboot a system :)

You could try

That might be worth a go.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Matt - tried that as well.

amriddle - my test kit currently has no power supply otherwise I would have used that.

For those who wish to know.

I had two extensions - one (4722) set to forward unconditionally to the call steal short code (setup only for extension 4721) and the other (4723) set to call the first extension when the handset is picked up. Both set to call intrude.

I then dialled 4721 from a 4th extension and whilst 4721 was ringing I picked up the handset on 4723 - then it all went haywire.

im sorry pepp as im sure you are sorting it out now or sent in a backup, but i did laugh out loud at that, quirks like that really tickle me

Tom - all sorted - just had to blast the backup I took just before trying it.

proof that a backup before changes is always wise!

The headset is a stand alone DECT unit..basically a Dect phone hidden inside a headset. Only problem is of course that it only has one button; off hook. So it would be nice to walk around the office with this small headset on, and when you phone rings in the office, you can do a call steal by simply pressing the off hook button.

Therefore; no it is not connected to EU24 Port.

User short code
