we are using G3v6r.03.3.246.1 Right now I have carrier sending 4 digit dnis. Can I go to 5 digit and if so do I need to reprogram every thing all over. With respect to the UDP's and VDN's and what else will this effect.

Changing from 4 to 5 digit is a big deal. The more you dig into it the more hooks you will find, especially if you are using UDP tables. Some of the other categories that are affected are bridged appearances and abbreviated dial. If you have a call center with CMS all of the agent IDs may also be affected. You may want to consider having Avaya do it for you. They have tools that change all of the required entries. The fees are not that bad. You would have to keep a freeze file while Avaya does the conversion off-site.

I kind of figured there was no easy solution. I would had been nice it you could access the back end of the software and do this in the data base. Thanks for your responce. I guess this will be an over night thing.

Why are you looking at 5 digits in the first place. Is your company that large that you have out grown your current 4 digit plan? Regardless, get help for this one. ie Avaya. This is not an easy task for one guy to handle.

They are telling you like it is Al. I went from 4 to 5 digits a while back. Avaya has a program to change everything at once. The only thing that I can think to tell you that could have been a problem, is that sometimes this program looses your announcements. I did not, but they did make me aware of it in case. We are still using the packs and not the VAL boards.

We will soon be going from a 3 digit to a 4 digit plan. We also have Modular Messaging. Can Avaya convert the mailboxes to four digit or do we have to blow them out and start over.

Thanks,

Jim

I believe that the Intuity can change the mailbox numbers using an included utility. If I remember correctly, you had to to them in blicks of 100 or 1000 (not sure). If you're having Avaya do the switch, you may want to get a price for doing the Intuity as well.

Kevin

Except mine is a Modular Messaging, not an Intuity. Hopefully the newer platform has the same utility.
