I have a customer who needs to be able to hit one button and page all phones and his PA speakers. I have a bogen uti1 as an IVR analog extension on an ip office 500v2, which works fine when you dial it's extension. I created a hunt group with all of the digital extensions plus the PA extension in it, and created a short code: Dial Paging -> 399 (hunt group). When I use the short code, it pages all of the digital stations, but doesn't activate the uti1.

If the paging system is configured to "answer" a call on the "IVR" extension, then your application will never work. To have both digital & IP phones plus external paging in the same group, the external needs to be configured as classic page port.

gotcha. So, set it up as a paging speaker, then should i use the uti1 or just use a wmt1a?

Yea, I agree. In your case, the extension needs to be configured as a 'paging speaker'. I typically use the IVR port if I am wanting the CO lines to ring over the PA/speakers, but of course it all depends on the model/type of PA speaker/amplifier.

If I have the extension set up as a paging speaker, can I use the uti1 (if so, which port?), or should I just use a wmt1a?
