We're looking to replace a small Shiva dial-out box that has 8 lines. We need more capacity, so we're looking at solutions like the AS5x00. The Shiva users dial out to Win2k Server machines running RAS with one analog modem line per remote site. There are 500 remote sites. We need to be able to:
--Map IP addresses to phone numbers for dial-on-demand
--Authenticate into the Win2k Servers and establish PPP connections
--Connect to at least 20 different servers at a time
--Make the whole process transparent to the users, with the exception of a bit of a dialing/connecting delay
Can this be done with an AS5300? Is there a better or cheaper way to do it? Dial-in and VPN are unnecessary, we just need to be able to connect to our modems in the field.
Thank you!
