How do I set up a Win NT4 system so I can dial in and administer user accounts. I want to be able to dial in and create and delete user accounts. Is it possible? James Collins

Anything native to NT4. I do not have the option of PC anywhere. Most of the NT4 Servers on customer sites are not allowed to have anything on them but what is needed. James Collins

This seems so simple that it couldn't possibly work, but you can give it a try. It worked for me.

I have an NT server that my W2K workstation is connected to, and I wanted to be able to do the same thing -- add/delete users without actually having to physically be at the server. I am mapped to the system drive on the server, so all I did was create a shortcut to the user manager app on the server and placed it on my desktop. It works fine.

Since you are (I think) working with multiple servers, you would have to create multiple logins on your workstation, so that each login would have a different desktop configuration, different dial-in configuration and a different shortcut to the user manager app. I've never tried this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Hope this helps.

MIScoord,
Are talking network here? I need to dial in remotely. I am very familiar with WinNT4, but I do not know how to set this up. Or if it can be set up. James Collins

butchrecon:

Oh. I thought you already had the dial-up connections set up on the server and you wanted to know how to get to the user manager program.

Are you familiar with the Remote Access Service (RAS) in NT 4.0? There's a lot involved with setting it up to be able to accept PTPP connections, and someone else who is a lot more adept at it than I am should probably speak to it. But that's what we use to set up VPNs for our CEO to be able to tunnel in to the network and get his e-mail while on the road.

Thats my problem. I have never set up RAS. I could follow the instructions in the book but I wanyt input from those who have set it up. What does it take? James Collins
