I have just been taskd with setting up dial by name on 81C with CallPilot 4.0. Trying to find some decent documentation so I can read. Any pointers or basic steps in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,

You will need to setup a SDN (Service Directory Number), that is, a phantom DN on PABX that DCFW's to Callpilot. If you are going to use the company LDN as the SDN you will need to change LDN in CDB to something else then programme LDN as phantom and DCFW to Callpilot.

Anyway, once the DN hits Callpilot send it to an application with a "Thru-Dial" block. Within the properties of this block you can have 1 of 3 option. Either

1) Allow Dial by Number
2) Allow Dial by Name
3) Allow Dial by Number or Name

Choose option (2) for Dial by Name

I am pretty sure you get a default system saying something like " Please enter last name, first name by typing digits on keypad. Press # to finish".

The call with be transfered to the matching mailbox DN number.

Now, the name search is done on the names in Callpilot Manager ie the mailbox names, (lastname, firstname). So you will need to keep these up to date.

Also, just be careful here as far as phone hacking is concerned. I had a similar setup, but using "Dial by Number" and if you dialled the outgoing PRI route ACOD, you had open dialling access anywhere.

Bottom line is "Make sure your RPL's are setup correctly"!

Use Application Builder to modify your companies AA. You can add a Dial by Name prompt to the current menu and then change the recording to notify the caller.
Good luck
