Dial by Name Stopped Working 2.1.14

Hello all,

I suspect that after upgrading IPO from 2.1.15 to 2.1.27 and VMPro from 2.1.10 to 2.1.14 last week that my Dial by Name stopped working. When you hit the Auto Attendant, and then choose prompt 1, and get to the Dial by name recording, you are prompted for the user name. No matter which first letter we type, only the number 3 (letters DEF) will report only 13 users (there are over 100 on this system). Those 13 users are not names, mostly anyway, that match first or last letters that start with any of those letters. All other letters do not report any users. Of those 13 users, one's last name is Dymerski, which is a match, (our Dial By Name is set for last name). If I type in "dy" it then fails to find that user.

During the upgrade, VMPro stated it upgraded, but remained at 2.1.10 version. We had to remove VMPro and reinstall it to get the upgraded version. Maybe that is related to the problem.

It just seems most users do not have a listing, and those that do, don't make sense. I have changed my "Full Name" in manager, and that did not work, and I have re-recorded my "name recording, to verify that the VMPro knows I have a name recorded. I also verified that my user is not "directory excluded".

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Pat

Here are a few things to check.

Upone upgrading from VM pro 2.1.10 to .14. the client will say 2.1.10 however look at your services and you should see it running 2.1.14.

Another thing to check is under the Administrator tab of Vm pro make sure you have proper setting for either 1st or last name you want people to dial by.

Where does your Dial by name point to? If it is an assisted transfer, that could be the problem.

Digital,
VMPro is 2.1.14.

I am not sure where the Administrator tabo f VMPro is... but the Token "Dial by Name" the "Specifics" tab is set to "Only Users" and "By Last Name" are chosen.

kflounders,
It is using a transfer token. It never gets far enough to transfer. It does not have a correctly populated list of names in the "dial by name directory.

I am not sure how to remedy that?

I can get users "re-registered" with the "dial by name directory" by changing their shortname(I appended a 1), letting VM sync and update the corresponding folder for that user, then change the user back....

Thanks to all.

Alright,

I need help again. While I orignally blamed this problem on the upgrade, and solved it as previously mentioned, the problem is back.

No system reboots, no changes, and the Dial By Name directory went blank over the weekend again.

That's twice. Short of recreating all user names, and changing them back to the original, can any one point me in the right direction?

Much Appreciated.

Pat

You could try deleting the names directory and letting VMPro re-create it (it will happen automatically within a minute or so). Try backing up all the .wav files from the individual folders first then copying them back in after. If that doesn't do it you could zap the names directory again but get your users to re-record fresh names.
