I have a winNT4.0 DHCP server installed. The WINS service is also running. I have thin clients set up for DHCP picking IP addresses from this server. The thin clients pick up DHCP address perfectly but i cannot ping these devices using the name. I can ping the IP address they pick up. What am i doing wrong in setting up the DHCP/WINS? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a WINS/NBNS (Option 044) defined as either a server default or scope option? What type of thin client are you using? Can they register with WINS?

I am using compaq thin clients running wondows CE. DHCP has been set to provide a wins server address to them. Once they pick ap ip, ipconfig shows the wins server registered, how do i get the thin clients to register their IP address with the WINS server. option 044 has been set.
