What will happen to the 95/98/2000/XP workstations that have static IP’s if I set up DHCP on my Windows 2000 Domain? Right now we are using host files and I don’t want to move the whole company to DHCP over night. Can I do it small groups by small groups?.
Do I need to install DsClient on 95/98 workstations to use DHCP?
If so is there any kind of problems that have been reported when installing the DsClient software?

Thanks

you don't need to install any client to use DHCP, you just need to set up the NIC properties to request an address. Statically assigned workstations will not be affected by setting up a DHCP server, just make sure that you exclude the IP's that are already assigned when creating your scopes.

Thanks for your answer.
When you say "you just need to set up the NIC properties to request an address" are you talking about setting the nic on the workstation to dynamic IP?

Thanks
