I have a question do i need to run a DHCP on the network to run a PDHCP i can't find anything on novell site saying i can't but i cant find anything saying i can,it just asumes that every one running a dhcp?.(which we are not)
No, DHCP and PDHCP are different protocols. You can run PDHCP with out DHCP in your network with out any issues.
You should look into setting up DHCP, it will save you many many man hours when your network moves forward in the technology. First thing that comes to mind is SLP in NetWare 5.x and 6.x Easiest way to distribute the SLP info to workstations is via DHCP. You can always go about it manually when you manually enter in the IP address, lot of time. There are tools out there that will remove the static entries for all workstations and convert them to DHCP, and you run it from ZFD or login script.
