DHCP Issues!

I just installed a new Windows 2000 server on my home network & introduced a new DHCP scope. I currently have a Linksys router which also runs a DHCP service & I shut it down so that clients on the local LAN could grab an IP from the server. Problem is any computer on the LAN, once I shutdown the router's DHCP service, fails to contact the server serving the IP addresses. Any idea why this may be happening? I also checked the services under the server & made sure DHCP server was running. Another item which concerns me is that since this is a wireless network, how will my clients using 802.11g on the LAN know to grab an IP address from the server once I shut down the router's DHCP? Is that automatic? Thanks for any input!

Ok after some tweaking I was able to get the PC to contact the DHCP server & grab an IP address. How can I get a wireless client to grab an IP address from the DHCP server, & turn off the DHCP on the linksys router.

With the Win2K server plugged into the linksys, your workstations should find it. The next time they try to get a lease renewed or a new lease, they will try the linksys first and not get a response. After a bit, they will then broadcast a request on the network and your Win2K server will respond.

That's the theory, anyway ;-)
