DHCP issued IP adresses not deleting from DNS

We keep getting duplicate ip addresses listed in DNS, when the DHCP lease expires and the IP is issued to another machine, the previous IP listing in DNS remains - how should the server be configured to stop this from happening?

Have you tried ipconfig /flushdns?
