Hi all,

Don't know if this is the right category for it but here goes...

I have a school that I support that has Win2k server in an IT suite. They use BT Business Broadband 500 with No NAT 13 for internet access. At the moment they have it set up with the server assigning the 13 ip addresses (given by the BT product) out via DHCP. The DNS forwarding is all setup and it works fine. However, they now have an extra 15 PCs, which means the IP pool is not large enough. Can I set up a DHCP scope (i.e. 192.168.0.x) and with the DNS forwarding, still get to the internet? As anyone had experience with this Broadband product?

I know that, as a last resort, I can use ICS, but I wouldn't mind setting it up via DHCP/DNS

Any ideas?

thanks in advance

Jason

Hi jason,

If you want to run the DNS and DHCP from the W2k Server you could use RAS, as you probably know ICS does all this for you, but you cant play, sorry I meant configure it.

I have tried both methods, ICS was the simplist (WITH ZONEALARM FIREWALL). But in the end I used ISA server from MS. Excellent firewall and web proxy server, also caches downloads, a cool feature when you watch an 18Mb MS update download in 2 seconds.

If I had a choice thats what I would use.

Hope this helps
Allen
