Is the server a member server or a domain controller? That makes a diference. Member servers will not replicate the DFS structure. Also keep in mind you are not actually replicating the files and folders, just the links in DFS to find them.
You can use DFS to replicate files to remote servers, I do it all the time. We replicate hundreds of megabytes to four remote sites at night, so each site has a "copy" of the file on their local server.
Guys, there are two kinds of DFS roots:
- stand alone
- domain based
Stand alone root is the only one possible when you are creating the DFS root on a server that is not a DC.
Stand alone does not support replciation of the root. Gia Betiu

Our DFS is in a domain on a DC. Just by the name I'd presume a stand alone DFS would not replicate...after all, what would it replicate to since it was a stand alone? ;-)
