i just reinstalled windows 95, and now i am having trouble getting my settings back. for example, i only have 16 color option for my monitor, and it doesnt seee my modem at all. any info would be helpful.

You will need the video card drivers to fix the 16 color mode problem and the modem needs drivers to. If this is a dell, hp, or gateway go to their websites for the drivers. If this is a lesser known brand name try the website. If there aren't any drivers for it on those websites, or it is a homebrew computer then open the computer up. Look on the inside and see a few things. First, check and see that the video card is a seperate card. Write down all the informatin on it. If it is not a seperate card, but is built into the motherbaord write down the brand/model of the motherboard. It may be hard to find but it's usually on there. Do the same thing for the modem. Look in device manager for any devices with a ! next to them or any communication device, or unknown device. This will more than likely be your modem. Remove the device from the device manager , restart, and it will ask for the drivers.
