Determining the NT logon Server in XP? 1

Hello All,


We're running a NT domain with multiple DCs and with several XP clients. When I log into one of the XP clients, how can I tell which server is doing the authentication?

Hi, Guy!

I did this by running a Kixtart script to announce the logon server. You might also be able to do it with a separate logon script on each server - as long as you remember to kill file replication first. In the separate scripts, you'd need to run a batch file with an "echo" statement to print the server's name to the workstation's screen.

Thanks for your reply! That's an idea I might look into... I was hoping that there was a utility like winmsd.exe in Win NT that would tell me. When I tried to use this utility, it looks like this program is linked to "system information" in Win XP, and doesn't list the logon server. =(

go to a command prompt and type "set" (Without the quotation marks) - this should give you the details you need. It works on NT and W2K
