Hello there,

As a newbie to this forum, I hope this is not too easy a question.

I have had a look in here but cannot find an answer(yet).

I need to find identify objects which have a null value in the universe, as these cause record links to be dropped.

I have had a look in the repository universe, but I cannot see anything obvious.

Can anyone give me a starter for 10 ?

I am not sure what you exactly mean. It is that you want to know which of the columns used in the various object contain a null. It do nto think so the designer can ever answer that question.
If you are using Oracle I am sure you should be able to write a small PL/SQL code and get the inforation. I have written a new maintenance PL/SQL which capture such information after a DW load. Please let me know if you need them.

You can ask the Designer module to show the number of rows in a table, so you do not use a table as a join that has no rows, buy it will not show you that the join you picked contains nulls.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Basically what I am looking for is the ability to detect whether a measure object has been set up to have a default value of null.

As far as I can see there is no 'default value' section when you set up your measure object.

The only other option I can see at present([sadeyes]horror!!!) is to write a report which checks every measure object to see if it contains a null value.

I REALLY hope there is an alternative to this...

I hope this clarifies the question.

I am not sure if what you exaclt mean. but if you are suggesting that you do notwant to display bank in case there is null value while using a measure in the report you can use the nvl function (oracle or similiar function in other database)in the measure object definition.

Did you consider building the Measure object using CASE statement??? Use that to find if it is null, if so then show the value of your choice, if not show the normal value.
