Hi

I have a strange problem that has occurred...

One of our PC's (networked) fails to initialise shortcuts to programs on the desktop and through explorer when they are double clicked

- A simple task such as double clicking a Microsoft Word icon on the desktop simply doesn't work

- A right click, open doesn't work

- Trying to open other documents not located on C: drive also doesn't work

- Trying to double click shortcuts on a mapped drive doesn't work

However when I use the run command and copy the path from say the Microsoft Word shortcut it promptly opens Microsoft Word!!

I can't open "My Computer" to change anything unless I type the full path in Run command box

I have tried logging in as Administrator with all privaledges and also a user with cut down privaledges - same problem

I am thinking it could be something that needs changing in the Registry, I will award a star to the right answer to the problem because it seems quite a weird one!

Thanks a lot

Jamie

What service pack are you at? Maybe updating to newer service pack or re-apply service pack will help.

Was this something that just started happening, or did you install something and then it started happening?

Thanks very much for your replies

Since I am based remotely I was unaware the keyboard was not functioning properly and beeping on startup, the problem with clicking the desktop icons seemed to lie with the faulty keyboard, we have replaced and the prob seems to have gone away

Once again, thanks and hope this update helps you troubleshoot in future

Jamie
