HI again people, next problem,I set my desktop icons in positions so that I know where to look for all my DTP progs, word processing, music etc. Use Lock desk top But when I next boot up it has reset itself. the ACTIVE desktop show web content has been unchecked so my own photograph which I use as wall paper is missing even tho in control panel display it is set as being in use. I know this is not a major fault but it is irritating and must show there is a wrong setting soemwhere that keeps switching the setting s off.

I dont know if this is related but everytime I boot up the my documents folder opens and I get an error message that says a file starting idlist 123456[the number changes each time]cannot be found, check etc..........
I have used system restore but although it cured other problems I was having these 2 still drive me crazy.
I use NAV 2001 and it is uptodate and it has never found a virus on my system so I dont know what else to do.
thanks for any help you brilliant people.

Not sure I understand your desktop problem, but if you are saying that the
icons are moved back to their original positions each time you boot even though
you have "positioned" them where you want them then you have set your desktop
to do this.

To change this so that they will "stay" where you put them, right click the desktop and
you will see "arrange icons" when you click on this, you will find that one of the choices (probably auto arrange) has been selected. Whatever you see checked, click on it and it will become unchecked. You can then move any you select where you
want them.

To make it look neater, right click the desktop again and then click on line up icons.

Hope this is what you were asking about.

Use System Restore to roll your computer back to a date to before when your computer worked right. Before the error(s) started occuring.

To start System Restore, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. Or, in the Help and Support main screen, click Use System Restore under Fix a problem. Emachines, Celeron 600, 256 Mb RAM, 10 Gb HDD, ADSL.
