Sometimes when windows 98 refresh my desktop all the icons switch between them.
Ex: all (*.doc) normaly word files take the form of autocad drawing files.
The same thing happen in the task bar.
Someone know the solution?
Thank's
Filo, this is typically a memory issue. Windows has to prioritize the user segments (the chunks of memory it uses to manage 16/32bit sessions). When it runs low, it tell the OS to "make do with what you've got" and it is that point the win9x kernel gets flakey. When it happens, check your avaiable user resource. I'll bet it's low. Now for the fix, well there are a couple ways to approach it. Check to see what else is running. Typically user segments not being released is do to a sloppy application. You can also try running a memory optimizer, a "memory defrag" as it were that follows the windows housekeeping routines and cleans up after it.
Make folders on the desktop and move the icons into them by catagory, (just like your real desktop.)

Try deleting the hidden shelliconcache file in c:\windows

reghakr
