desktop icons and start menu dont load. 1

Hi

I have a pc ( xp home edition w/ SP2). Every so often when I start up the pc the desktop icons and start menu do not appear. Ill then bring up task manager ( where I can see the icons when I do "file" "browse") and run the MS Restore from the system32 folder to bring the pc back 1 day. The icons and start menu show up on the restore start up. I have semantec antivirus and spybot( I run this frequently).
I also have a teenager and god only knows what she does on this thing. I dont remember the cpu speed but there is 500 meg of memory.

Download Microsoft Antispyware from

Update it and run it. Also, download Hijack This! from here:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Post your log file and we will see what's going on.
