I've been doing macs on cics and mics for a few months now but am still having difficulties doing an inventory to determine exactly what a system should be designated as (ex: 0x32, 8/24, etc). is there anywhere i can get a breakdown that would help with this? thanks to all you experts who have been helping us poor suckers in the field with no real training available. it's the hard knocks way for sure.

take a look at the norstar handbook:
read over the software and hardware sections of it as a starting point. this handbook is not the programmers or installation guide but was to help the salespeople and techs understand the product. I think that on this complelx of a subject this would give you a basic grounding to start from.
