Hi

How can i deploy the Business Objects to the end user. Can I copy the .rep files, Bomain.key and the universe to the each of the end user's machine. Should i use WebIntelligence to deploy the same.

1. Can I use packages like InstallBuilder or Installshield to package the .rep files for deployment ?

2. How do I do version control for Business Objects ?

Publish the rep to the Repository (corporate documents) people will retrieve them from there.
Distribute the key to the users, in their /locdata folder, or put it in a shared network drive.
You can use installshield to pack rep files, but the way to go is Repository.
You can do version control with Quality manager ( or maybe with an add on for Visual Source Safe from Solvcentral ( Stick to your guns

Thanks Pabloj

I didn't understand the below line

'You can use installshield to pack rep files, but the way to go is Repository.'

Do you mean that i can packup all the .rep files and publish it as a entire package ?

No, publish each report to repository, then users will retrieve from there Stick to your guns

You need to read the deployment guide.

BO is a repository-based tool. You distribute reports and universes via the repository database.

Yes, you can do it the way you suggested, but it is not recommended. Steve Krandel
