I recently created a small database for a web/asp project. When I put it on the web I could not access the database and kept getting a permission denied message. I did not intentionally secure the database. But, I also have a number of secured databases on the company network and my best guess is that when i created the database it was automatically secured somehow. I recreated the web database on my notebook and my asp worked fine. I can not find any settings/properties to tell access not to secure the database. Any suggestions as to how to "unsecure" a database or stop access from thinking it is secure would be appreciated...

It sounds like your office version is using workgroup administrator with the security option enabled this would possible account for the fact you created the database ok on your notebook, to get around this you would have to join an workgroup that does not have the security option enabled. You can create your own workgroup and not enable the security option, however you would have to rejoin the other workgroup to create secure databases again.

Hope this helps

Chris

That would be the only fix I could come up with, but there has got to be some "switch" somewhere in a database that tells it to be secured. If there's a switch to turn security on there has to be a way to turn it off.

thanks for the advice
