very very strange...

today I turned my computer on and I get no internet service. I am a technician and have gone thru EVERYTHING that I know of:

- swapped out nic
- changed cable
- ipconfig /renew (failed)
- ping loopback was good
- uninstalled mcafee anti virus and firewall
- reinstalled mcafee anti virus and firewall
- check bios, set optimal settings

there is another computer sharing the netgear hub and DSL service and is working fine (reason i am able to post this)

I run a clean computer, everything is always in order and organized. I have been scratching my head for hours now.

I even used the nic and cable from the working computer and it still will not work.

However, there WAS one thing in the registry that I did not recognize under the HKLM/software/microsoftwindows/run but I deleted it and it has not returned.

My thought is that I have some sort of Denial of service in effect within my registry. Any help appreciated!

Daniel

I tried static, still nothing. I left the dns servers for verizon in there. this is so odd. I am stumped.

i even upgrade my 2000 to Xp and still nothing.

I'm not quite clear. Are you using a router behind the DSL modem or a hub? Some ISP's will limit the connection to one MAC address and will not connect other devices.

Franklin, you hit it. About 5 hours ago I figured out that a router was in order. I have been using a hub for years... I guess Verizon locked down. Implemented wireless router fixed the problem.
