Hello everyone and Happy New Year (2010)!!

I am still an Avaya newbie, having attended no training at all so my questions are sometimes quite stupid, but only intelligent to the extent of my understanding of the documents I have come across:)

If I have several IPOs and I use Delta Server to keep the CDR/SMDR, must I run several instances of the Delta Server in order to "ACTIVELY" store the logs from all the IPOs? I am seeing a situation where I login to Delta Server and establish a connection with one IPO, which technically disconnects the other IPOs until I restore the communications with them. During this time, the logs from the disconnected IPOs are not saved to my chosen destination.

Am I simply misunderstanding the concept behind Delta Server?

Suppose I have several IPOs, what is the most effective way available for keeping the CDR/SMDRs?

Thank you in advance.

Yes only one delta server can connect to one ipo.
The latest version can send smdr without delta server to any application that can handle an port where the info is send to.

What do you mean by "the latest version"?
Can you suggest such applications as you mention? I really need to centralize the collection of the CDR/SMDRs and have them stored "actively".

Thanks

You need to be on 4.2 or higher to send SMDR out of the ipo without the delta server.
If you have a call logging application then just let the ipoffice send it to a specific port that the application uses.

There are two options depending on the used software release:
1 for all versions:
You need a separate deltaserver for each location, you can only start one deltaserver on a single pc.
Using virtualisation ( Windows virtual PC is free but i do not know if it can run multiple VMs simultanously ) you can have several DeltaServers on a single PC.

2 for all versions from 3.2 and higher
You can collect SMDR via IP directly from each ip office but you need a program able to receive and store this data.
Most call accounting software is capable to do this.
I am not aware of any free software capable to receive and store the data.

the outpust can be sent direct to a syslog server (linux unix support this direct & many doze apps are available).

It will need filtering to remove any additional unwanted data.
