I have an employee running a 2 year old Dell workstation, P3 1.7, 1gb PC800. We came into work this morning and it was a black screen with a "Monitor is working properly" signal, but no signal from the computer. It was working fine the night before when we left the office.

So far I have replaced the video card, replaced the memory, and stripped it bare to only vid card, hdd, and mouse, keyboard. I have watched the boot with the case off, everything seems to be getting power. All fans seem to be firing.

There is no POST and there is no other indication that there is system power, except that when it gets powered on, and we allow it to go through the boot process, we do get keyboard feedback with num-lock.

Sounds like the power supply itself has failed. Normally I'd suggest replacing it but many Dell systems have proprietary power supplies. You will have to call Dell to get a new power supply.
