Dell D620 & installing software issues

We've been purchasing several D620s. Some of them we have trouble installing software on and need to do a run as and install as a local administrator. Most of the software we're able to install, but still have some difficulties with others. I'm having trouble now where I can install the program just fine and it opens, but I can't do anything with the program. It errors "An unexpected error occured in OpenDB. The error was 2004 Out of memory." It is a 32 bit program. I've tested on several machines. It works on all the machines that aren't D620s, but doesn't work on all the D620s. Any ideas?

Thanks!

What is the program.
A search on MSN for the error "error 2004 out of memory" relates (in one instance) to the Microsoft Jet Engine. It is a very old error, and harks back to Office 97. I would think you are using something a bit more modern.

How much RAM/Diskspace? Which processor. I have a core2 duo d620 with 2 gigs of ram and no trouble installing apps. Also when you install the apps are you logged in as the domain admin or a regular user? what policies do you have in place on the network that could be affecting the users logged into the laptops having problems?

We have 1 gb RAM, it is also a core2 duo. I am an admin on the machine. Most software installs fine, it's just some applications that don't. I've tried as a domain admin and local admin. I don't have control over our security policies, they are implemented higher than our local location.

The program is IEPA Electronic Chemical Analysis Form.

Second thought, are all the dell's to the same software standard?

Just looked on the web. A search for your program shows it to be a win95/NT program in its 32 bit form. I presume that your dell's are either xp or Win2000. You may need to update to an XP or Win2000 standard as some of the dll or sys files may not be compatible if they are bespoke files.

I see it also uses the MS Jet Database. You may have or installed the wrong version.

I understand the program is older, but we use it on other machines that are newer and have XP on them. It only does not work on the D620. I'll check the jet database once.

Just curious to know if the machines that do work with the older program have the same amount of memory as the D620 that fails?
