I feel rather abashed at asking this, but I don't want to muck it up. Just ran a backup and watched my life slipping away as I backed up a tonload of .tmp's in WINNT/TEMP.
I'm running server 2k and exchange 2k on the same machine. Anyone see any problems getting rid of these temp's? Just checking to see if I'm missing something here.
Thanks

I often delete the files I find in the temp folder. Better still, you have a back up of them. If you run in to a problem, you can simply restore from your backup. Kevin Mattson

Actually, and I thank you for your info so far, but here is my quandry - they all begin with LB so I know they are connected and have something to do with the .stm of MS exchange. And they should automatically remove themselves when what they represent is written to the .stm file (I think I'm getting this straight). They are created temporarily when you have a defragmented .stm file and a large e-mail wants to write itself.
And then here's the rub...they didn't back up!
Backup was unable to open them (and maybe that is by design) so it skipped them.
Any thoughts from here?

I'm a Notes Domino guy. I don't know alot about Exchange so I won't be alot of help here. Kevin Mattson

Just to let anyone know, I did delete alot of the tmp's that started with lb. Doing somemore look about for an answer though. It didn't seem to destabilize the system.

Hi'

I may be wrong here...
If your OS or Exchange is using the files it will not let u delete them.
If you can it is safe to say delete them.
I am doing it and never had a problem.
At this point I must add my exchange is doing its defragging every night.
Mail servers is one of the most important servers in any company. They are like women (with all due respect to women!) if you do not look after them and pamper them they will give you a load of problems and headaches. Hope this Helps
