I have a user who deleted one of the two profiles on her laptop running XP (i believe home edition). the profile she deleted had all her wedding photos on it. to my knowledge she hasn't really used the laptop since that, besides just searching the hard drive for the pics.
i've seen some of those free software progs that will run a free trial, but have never used one. is this a good way to go?
thanks for any tips.

1. Stop using the Laptop NOW!
2. Get some thing like
I am not affiliated in any way but it is a brilliant recovery tool and has found stuff for me on formatted HD's

But it is not free but well worth the wedding photos....

Good luck,
Iain

Another is GetDataBack. I tried it recently, and was so impressed that I bought it. They have versions for both FAT and NTFS. You can download and run it as a trial. It will do everything in trial mode except actually recover the file.

I just used GetDataBack. I recovered about 50% of a deleted and recreated user profile. My buddy was happy enough with what i recovered.

XP? System restore to a restore point prior to deletion of the profile.
